Obituary

Ruben Buenrostro

June 7, 1980 - August 12, 2025

Ruben was born in Mission Hills, CA, to Ruben Buenrostro Ibarra and Grasiela Vivas, brother to Luis Arturo Buenrostro, Yesenia Herrera (Aristeo), Ricardo Buenrostro (Leticia), and Graciela Buenrostro (Luis).

In the early 90's, the family moved from California to the beautiful Pacific Northwest, setting roots in Warden, WA. Ruben attended and graduated from Warden High School. He loved football and cars, and working part-time at Warden Welding. After graduation, he entered the workforce full-time, only to realize he wanted more. He took a chance on himself and went off to college. He graduated in 2011 from the University of Idaho, majoring in Human Resources and Business Management. However, education was not the only thing he found at the University of Idaho. There, he met the love of his life, Flerida Flores, or as we all know her, Nene. Together since 2006, they married and formed a beautiful family. Their first child, Juan Salvador, was born in 2009. But life deals us cards we're not always prepared for. Their second pregnancy was not to be, and after their loss, they thought their parenting journey was over. Fast forward to 2013, the Buenrostro's began their American Dream, becoming first-time homeowners. Fast track it to 2016 and surprise! Carlota was born, followed by Victoria in 2017, Elena in 2019, and sadly the loss of baby Shayla just a few weeks before Ruben in July of 2025.

He was larger than life. He loved remembering his childhood and the mischief he caused. He loved cooking, camping, working on cars with his son, and having a good time. One of his biggest loves, aside from his family, was the LA Dodgers. Winning the World Series in 2020 and 2024. Lifelong dream achieved, bringing him to tears. Go Dodgers!

In his brief time on this earth, he made lifelong friendships. Some began in his childhood, others he met later in life. He touched so many lives and was equally touched by many. Our memories include many laughs, tears, pranks, and music.

Holiday travel was his favorite. Mexico being at the top of the list. Always stopping at Great Wolf Lodge. Enjoying every minute with his family, letting his inner child shine through. He was a doting father and uncle, spoiling every kid rotten. He will be more than missed and forever loved. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Grasiela, and his little angel, Baby Shayla. He is survived by his loving wife, Flerida, and his children, Juan, Carlota, Victoria, and Elena. His siblings and all his nieces and nephews.

We dare not say goodbye, but instead, until we meet again.
