Ruth Frances Shobert Hill passed away early the morning of September 23, 2014, at the certified family home of Billie Jo and Gary Hammond, in Nampa, Idaho. Ruth was born on New Years Day in 1921 to parents who were U.S. citizens but were living in Canada at the time of her birth. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Ohio, where Ruth was raised. Ruth was the youngest of four children. Ruth completed her education and became a school teacher while she was in her twenties. Later, she moved to San Francisco, California, and worked as a legal secretary. Ruth was interested in a spiritual life and practiced yoga, followed the teachings of Edgar Casey and was a vegetarian for most of her adult life. Ruth met and married Robert Bob Millard Hill in San Francisco in 1969. This was her first and only marriage. She and Bob were married until his death in 2011. Ruth was always a kind and gracious lady. She made life very comfortable and happy for Bob, throughout their many years together. Ruth had no children of her own but loved babies. She was a good step-mother to Bobs daughters, Judith Anna Hill and Melisande Davis Hill Turrittin. Ruth and Bob moved to Grass Valley, California, in the early 1970s, after both retired. They had a lovely home and many friends there and were very active in the art community. After suffering with cognitive difficulties, Ruth moved to Nampa, Idaho, in September of 2010. Bob moved to Emmett, Idaho, shortly after, to be closer to her. Ruth lived in the certified family home of Billie and Gary Hammond from that time until her death. She was very grateful, as was her family, for the wonderful care and comfort she received from Billie and Gary. Ruth is survived by her two step-daughters and their families. A memorial service will be held at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 4:00 pm. Any one who knew Ruth or knows the family is invited to attend.
