Sallie Weber Obituary Sunshine and pure joy - this from a text describing our precious Sallie Weber who died in her sleep November 24, 2024. She was 62. Her family and friends say, "The earth has shifted. Nothing is the same."
Sallie was born in Palo Alto, CA, on November 19, 1962. Her father Hal Weber left Silicon Valley to teach business at Northwest Nazarene University. Sallie, her sister Lori Weber Bolen, and her brother Tom Weber all attended Nampa Public Schools and graduated from NNU.
In college, Sallie knew no strangers. She sought out and celebrated everyones talents and made them laugh. She often entered a room to applause, "Brace yourselves, Sallies here." And the sun came out. She was voted homecoming queen because of her ability to make everyone feel like someone. She was Vice-President of student activities, and of course, she graduated with honors.
Sallie loved NNU. She used to say, "Life after college? Skip it if you can." She did skip off to teach English at South Junior High where her students loved her.
Sallie eventually decided to be a licensed clinical social worker. She moved to Salt Lake City, completed her graduate degree and became an elementary school counselor.
If you knew Sallie or had a passing encounter with her, or met her at a thrift store while searching for little treasures, you were among the fortunate who felt theyd been blessed by fairy dust. If you looked sad, she might have handed you a book by one of her gurus, probably Byron Katie. If you counted pennies at the counter, she might have paid your bill. If youve met her, you have not forgotten her wit and warmth and loving energy. If you met her in the ladys room, you might have asked for a hug before parting ways.
At Foxboro Elementary, where she was a counselor, she walked the halls, saying "Hey, good lookin!" When she met a student. She calmed fears, taught kids life lessons, called parents when their child did something cute, thoughtful or clever.
Sallie was known for her insight and wisdom, her fun spirit, and wicked sense of humor. She was getting her tire fixed when the guy asked, "Dont you ever rotate your tires?" Sallies quick reply was, "No, but I floss."
Her favorite Bible verse was Psalms 56:1, "Be merciful to me oh God, for men hotly pursue me. All day long they press their attack."
She wanted Michael McDonald to sing as the groom at her wedding. She was lively, fun and self-deprecating, which is why no one who knew her can believe she is gone. If Sallie was in the room, people were having fun.
Sallie was at her Nampa family home recovering from a broken hip and femur. Her brother, Tom Weber, took care of her as well as their father Hal Weber, who had had a fall. On Sunday night, the 24th, she said goodnight, went to bed, and died quickly and painlessly.
Her plan was to retire at the end of the school year and visit friends and family around the country. Her guru Byron Katie would say, "It did not happen as she planned, instead it was perfect."
They say the weight of grief is lighter when shared.
