Obituary

Samme Ann Savage - Reed, 84, of Nampa, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Samme was born on February 19, 1941, to Sam and Faye Savage, in Kimberly, Idaho. She was raised and educated in Gooding, Idaho, where she graduated from Gooding High School, in 1959. Samme Ann married her forever love Donald "Don" Reed, April 15, 1960, in Gooding, Idaho. Samme and Don then moved to Nampa, in 1960, to build their new life together.

Samme had many employment experiences over the years with a few of her favorites being that of secretary for Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, journeyman printer at Nampa Free Press, clerking Quarter Horse auctions for her sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and Thane Lancaster, and prior to retirement that of realtor. Samme was also frequently pursued for her beautiful alto voice which afforded her incredible opportunities to sing on the radio and to perform on local television.

As a strong woman of faith Samme used her God-given talents to serve others. As missionary president for Nampa First Church, as well as partnering with her husband Don on many work-and-witness trips, she made a significant and lasting impact, in missions, both locally and around the world. Samme selflessly gave of her time, skills, and resources, to reach out in love and humility, as Christ commands.

In 2009 Samme and Don began attending Bowmont Community Church. Bowmont quickly became their new church home and has been a great source of reassurance and peace-of-mind for her family since Don passed. To know she was loved, served, and cared for by such an incredible group of people has been a true gift. In turn Samme became an honorary "mom" for many, as well as friend and confidant for anyone needing an expression of love, support, and/or prayer.

Samme joyfully invested herself in her roles of mama, gramma, great gramma, aunt, and great aunt. With love, dedication, focus, and a sense of urgency, she has considered it her responsibility to keep each member of her family covered in prayer daily. Hers is a legacy of love, faith, and hope. She will be greatly missed, but those of us who share her faith will absolutely see her again.

She is survived by her children Kristi Dawn [Warren] Relaford of Ft. Worth, TX and Jeremy William [Jacqueline] Reed of San Antonio, TX. Grandchildren: Brennon (Katherine Oates) Relaford, of Washington DC; Brice Relaford, of Washington DC; Gage [Hailey] Reed of Tulsa, OK; Rory [Chelsea] Reed, of El Reno, OK; Anai Reed, of Clay Center, KS; and Annelise Thompson, of Clay Center, KS. Great Grandchildren: Barrett Reed (7); Claire and Naomi Reed (5); and Sofia Relaford (3 ½). Nieces: Paula [Bimbo] Bivens, of Filer, ID; Cami [Jim] Frame, of Delaware, OH; and nephews Marc [Kim] Mitchell, of Nampa, ID and Sam [Lisa] Mitchell, of Highland, UT. Fifteen great nieces and nephews, thirty-one great-great nieces and nephews; and several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald "Don" Reed; parents Sam and Faye Savage; brother, Zane Savage; sisters Nadine Lancaster and Donna Mitchell; brothers-in-law Thane Lancaster and Melvin Mitchell; nephew, Terry Lancaster; niece, Darlene Savage; two great-great nephews; and grandson-by-marriage Nick Steele.

Special thanks is extended to niece, Paula Bivens, for the miles driven and countless hours spent, to ensure our mama never felt alone in her health journey. The family also wants to thank Samme's friends, "The Outback Crew," for their willingness to step in consistently and in whatever way was needed.

Samme's Testimony

"I'm glad that one day I let Christ come into my heart and save me from sin and later sanctify me wholly. I'm so happy in the knowledge that Christ walks by my side and gives me strength sufficient for each trial and temptation that confronts me. I wouldn't trade Christ and my personal experience with Him for anything the world has to offer. I'm truly happy in the abiding love of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."
