Sandra Jean Humiston passed away at home on February 26, 2016 with her family by her side. Sandra was born in Nampa, Idaho on December 16, 1938 to Reese and Garnette Hendry. She was the second youngest of six children. She attended Roosevelt Grade School, Nampa Junior High and Nampa Senior High graduating in 1956. Sandra was a Girl Scout and also took piano lessons which the recitals were held at the Womens Century Club in Nampa. After graduating from high school, Sandra attended Grimms School of Business earning her Accounting Certification. Her first job was working for Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens as their accountant, then for Fifers Furniture in Nampa and Caldwell. On March 10, 1961 she married Glen Humiston and in 1963, they bought an 80 acre farm in Melba, Idaho. They had two children, Todd and Sandy. When Sandy started school, Sandra worked for the Melba School District as a substitute teacher and Kindergarten aide. In 1978, Sandra started working for Medical Center Physicians as an auditor for Medicaid and Medicare accounts and later as office manager. She also worked with other hospitals and health care providers during her career. Sandra retired in 2002 to help Glen with the farm. Sandra loved traveling, the outdoors and spending time with her family. She was a big Coca-Cola and Mickey Mouse collector. Her Coke kitchen collection was selected as one of the top three entries in an internet competition through the Coca-Cola Collection Society. She decorated many Christmas trees for Festival of Trees to help raise money for Meals-on-Wheels and won awards for her creative talents. Sandra is survived by her son Todd (Anna) Humiston, Sandy (Randy) McCoy, and grandsons Heath McCoy and Caimen Lopez. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen Humiston. Sandra was grateful for all the help that her family, friends, neighbors, and health care givers and Hospice staff provided over the last few months. The family will greet family and friends at a viewing on Monday, March 7, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel. Burial services will follow at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens, Meridian, Idaho.
