Obituary

Sharon Vander Veen Obituary Sharon Ann (Zylstra) Vander Veen, age 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at her home in Nampa, Idaho. Sharon was born on September 10, 1948, in Snohomish, Washington to Peter and Nellie Zylstra, Sharon had a compassionate heart from the start. Even as a child, she seemed to know she was meant to care for othersofficially proven by the ever-growing list of caregiving certifications she proudly collected throughout her life. If there was a class to take, Sharon took it (and probably brought snacks for everyone too). To know Sharon was to be embracedsometimes literally, often with food, and always with love. Whether it was a lovingly prepared meal, a handwritten card arriving just when you needed it, or an unexpected visit that brightened your day, Sharon made it her mission to stay connected and make people feel seen and cared for. Adventure also seemed to follow her aroundprobably because she invited it in. From parasailing to planning get-togethers with her beloved Silver Sisters at Crossroads, Sharon didnt do anything halfway. She was either all in, or not at all. And she was always in when it came to helpingno task too small, no need too big. Sharon is survived by her children; Janelle (David) Montoya, Paul (Teresa) Vander Veen, and Sarah (Kelley) Vander Veen; her grandchildren; Janet (Ryan), Mariah, Heidi (Skyler), David, Becky, Sufia, Holland, and Kennedy; her sisters; Eileen Van De Steeg and her twin Shirley Nutting; and her brothers; Fred (Christine), Norman, and Gordon. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Nellie and brother, David Zylstra. Her legacy is one of kindness, courage, a dash of mischief, and unconditional lovea recipe she perfected and shared generously with everyone around her. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 5. 2025 at 10 am at Crossroads Church located at 4170 E Amity Ave., Nampa, ID 83687.
