Shirley May Miller, 82, of Caldwell, Idaho passed away at home on Monday, October 24, 2011, with her children at her bedside. Shirley was born to Oscar and Luretta Martin in Caldwell on January 26, 1929. She graduated from Vale Union High School on May 16, 1947.

On July 21, 1947, Shirley married Pastor Marvin Charles Miller at the Vale Church of the Nazarene in Vale, Oregon. They were married for 62 years. Throughout their life together, Marvin and Shirley ministered at many Idaho and Oregon churches. Shirley was a very learned Sunday school teacher, as well as a master church organist and piano player. Her ministry and music touched many lives.

Shirley is survived by her sister Grace Holton of Homedale, Idaho and brother Beryl Martin of Vale, Oregon, her daughter Marilyn Yee of Boise, her son Marvin Miller Jr.(Angela) of Nampa, her daughter Carolyn Travis(Thomas) of Vancouver, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren and longtime friend Grant Yee of Boise.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Luretta Martin of Vale, her brothers Vern Martin and Paul Martin, her husband Marvin Miller, and two grandchildren Brian Chandler and Andrea Lin Yee.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28 at 10am at the Cathedral of the Rockies, 717 N. 11th St. in Boise, Idaho. Internment will be at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise. Services will be under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.

Shirley always approached life with composure and a quiet grace and dignity, and was a dear friend to many. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and there will be a great void in the lives of her loved ones.
