Obituary

Stanley Richard Larsen, 1914 - 2013 Stanley Richard Larsen was born February 18, 1914 in Richland, Washington, the first of three children to Alvin and Mary Larsen. He died Friday, April 19, 2013 in Nampa, Idaho, having lived a long and active life of 99 years. Stanley grew up on family farms near Kennewick and Fairfield, WA, attending school in Fairfield from the 2nd grade through high school. He was definitely a child of the Great Depression, living his formative and early adulthood years during that time and demonstrating it through the remainder of his life by making due with salvaged lumber and collections of nails, screws and bits of wire for his many and varied projects. Trips to nearby Spokane to shop and visit relatives were common and after high school, Stanley moved there. As it happened, his graduation picture at his cousins home attracted the attention of a certain young lady. "I was had before I even knew it," Stanley agreed and Elaine Wyckman entered his life. They were married April 19, 1936. To the day, 77 years later, Stanley and Elaine enjoyed their own special reunion, adding an extra blessing to walking the streets of heaven. Their life centered around Everett, WA where their three children grew into adulthood. Most of Stanleys working career was spent as a carpenter on bridge construction projects in many parts of Alaska and Washington, necessitating occasional extended absences from home in order to provide for his family. Even while relaxing, he enjoyed putting bread on the table, for he loved to bake English muffins and dinner rolls. Fishing, bird watching, gardening, and baking were his recreational joys. Stanley is survived by his three children, Glenn Larsen, Lavone (Dan) Edgar, Adele Larsen, 5 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Preceding Stanley in death are his wife of 54 years, his parents, his sister and brother, Helen Smith and Harvey Larsen, and his daughter-in-law, Jane Larsen.
