Thomas Wilson Obituary LIFE STORY OF THOMAS WILLIAM WILSON Heres the story of Tom, entering this world January 13, 1936 in Superior, Wisconsin and leaving on January 10, 2024. Toms birth father, George Bryce, was hit and killed by a vehicle within days after Tom was born. Toms mother, Margaret Alice Hoosier Wilson had to work as a school teacher in Maple, Wisconsin when Tom was very young so his Grandparents raised him during weekdays and his mother was home with him on weekends. Tom retained a great love of his maternal grandparents all his life. His grandmother was a cook at a boarding house and took Tom with her to help cook the meals. He remembers how she would put him up on a barstool and teach him how to help her, and he retained this love for cooking, blessing countless others throughout the years of his life. Tom also would sit on his grandfathers lap where he learned how to read "real words" from the Saturday Evening Post. Later, when he went to school he was truly shocked and disgusted with the Dick and Jane level of books used in his classroom. When Tom was still in grade school his mother met and married Charles R Wilson, a fellow teacher and administrator in the school district. Due to Charless health, a less humid climate was needed. They ended up moving to Thermopolis, Wyoming and eventually to the Treasure Valley area. Charles adopted him so they would all have the same last name. One of Toms favorite tales from his time while yet in Wyoming was about a big city fella who was asking directions and when he was told to go a certain distance and take a right at the cattle guard, the man didnt want to hear anymore directions from there, as he said hed just stop and ask the man who was guarding cattle for the rest of the information. Tom lived and attended schools in Eagle, Idaho while his father was Superintendent. He finished all his high school requirements in his Junior year except Senior English. The high school was merged with Meridian School District and all students were to attend Meridian High. Tom took his senior English at Northwest Nazarene College and received his diploma from Meridian High having never stepped foot into that school. Tom attended 1 year at NNC and 2 years at the College of Idaho in Caldwell. He just lacked a few credits to get his bachelors in biology. Family needs to which he was faithful, then required his attention. He worked for car dealerships, eventually getting a job at Honstead Motor Company for 13 years and eventually was recruited by the owner of Happy Day Ford in Caldwell where he spent the rest of his career. Tom had a love for the great outdoors, loving to hunt and fish particularly in the Owyhees and also the San Fransisco Bay area, mainly with his good friend Johnny Johnstone. Diana remembers many a carcass hanging in their garage, which Tom would butcher, himself. Gardening was also a love of Toms mothers, and many people were blessed from Tom and her efforts, as Tom was always a willing help to his mom. As a younger Mr. Wilson in the 70s, he visited a friend in the Los Angeles area who had a stylist for the stars as a friend, who styled Toms hair, and Tom refused to change his hair style no matter the decade, or current styles! A friend of Dianas who was doing crafts with her once noticed that if she was short of a needed supply, all she needed to do was ask Tom to go get it and he very happily would drop what he was doing (which usually was watching the car races) and he would go get it just as soon as the car race was over! This friend in surprise, asked her, "Where did you ever find a husband like that?!" "At Honstead Motors!", was her reply. Now, if it was football season, it was another story as she knew that hed go right away! He married Diana when he was 40, and they married on June 19th, 1976. They would have been married 48 years this coming June. To say he had a huge heart for taking care of her would be the understatement of the year! We know the most favorite thing that Tom ever did was receive Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. But one of the greatest regrets was trading his grandfathers car. The love of race cars and vehicles was a huge part of his life. He spent years restoring a 35 Chevy Sedan. Participating in car shows took him and Diana many miles, memories and places!
