Verla Alma Tollefson passed away on June 25, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at the Nampa FirstUnited Methodist Church on Sunday, July 1,2012 at 1:30 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.

Verla was born March 31, 1919 in Nampa Idaho. She was the sixth of seven children born to Albert and Samantha Young. Verla attendedNampa schools, graduating from Nampa High School in 1937. She went on to nursing school and became a registered nurse in 1940.

She married Clayton Tollefson from South Dakota on May 4, 1941. They lived in Caldwell for a short time and then moved to Nampa where they remained for the rest of their lives.

Whatever house they lived in, Verla made it a warm and loving home. Her family was the center of her life. She was an extremely devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was always involved with her children's activities, whatever they might be.

She was very active in her church throughout her life. She was worshipping in Church the day before she passed away and even at 93 went to the church weekly to help in whatever tasks she could.

She was a life long member of Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed games of all kinds, especially playing bridge and tile rummy with friends. Verla and Clay loved to travel in their motor home and did so for 19 years after Clay retired. They also enjoyed several trips abroad. One of the great joys was spending time at their cabin in Placerville. A private committal service will be held at the Placerville, Idaho cemetery where she will interned next to her husband, Clayton Tollefson.

Verla is survived by her sister June Baldwin or Nampa and her four children and their spouse: Dr. Jeffrey & Carolee Tollefson of Storrs, CT, Rev. Dr. Steven & Vicki Tollefson of Boise, Kathryn & Richard Huff of Nampa and Mike & Nancy Nishikawa of Meridian; ten grandchildren, Christy Tollefson Collins, Kelly (Larry) Cusick, Sam (Ronni) Huff, Joe (Jodi) Huff, Greg, (Deanna) Tollefson, Ben (Laurie) Tollefson Ted Tollefson, Wes (Greta ) Tollefson, Jon (Victoria) Nishikawa & Russ (Kerry) Nishikawa; 12 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in Verla's name to Nampa First United Methodist Church, 2717 12th Avenue, Nampa, Idaho 83686
