Obituary

Vicente Galindo was called upon by his Heavenly Father on February 19, 2017, a week short of his 83rd birthday. His final days were spent comforted by family and friends that Vicente had touched in some way throughout his very memorable life. Vicente "Buelo" was born on February 26, 1934, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico where he was raised by his parents, Gabriel and Maria de Jesus Galindo. He was always grateful for the second chance he was given after childbirth complications. His parents and grandparents instilled amazing family values that Vicente lived by until his last day. He bestowed these same values to his children and grandchildren, who will continue to live by them. Vicente married his soulmate, Manuela Monsivais, on January 8, 1956. Together, they were blessed with six children, Juanita Granados, Maria Magdalena Martinez (Fernando), Vincent Jr. (Rebecca), Martin (Gladys), Maria de Jesus Charlesworth (Clayton), and Lupe (Aimee). They were further blessed with 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Vicente was very proud of each and every one of them to the point where his mustache would curl with pride. Vicente was educated in Piedras Negras where he studied bookkeeping. He worked as a manager at Carta Blanca brewery and helped manage his fathers neighborhood store, Las Moritas. Later, he migrated to the U.S. where he worked for Chrysler, Aunt Nellies Farm Kitchen, and as a farmworker. He settled in Nampa, Idaho, in 1971, where he worked at Amalgamated Sugar Company for 13 years and finally at Hewlett-Packard until he retired in 1994. Vicente and his son, Vincent, established a car lot, Norte Auto Sales, as a retirement hobby for Vicente, which also served as a social hub for him and his fellow retired friends. Anyone driving by the car lot could spot him during downtime taking naps at his desk through the open office door. Vicente and Manuela enjoyed their retirement days spending time with family and taking an occasional trip to Jackpot, Nevada, where Vicente aspired to crack the Keno code. Vicente took every opportunity to share old memories and stories, some which we were uncertain were trueuntil a segment on the Travel Channel and Wikipedia confirmed his story about how his schoolmates father was the creator of Nachos. Vicentes accurate mathematic computations aloud in Spanish will forever live in our memories. He was never in need of a calculator. Vicente and Manuela were life-long, devout Catholics serving, Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Pauls Catholic Church as a lector, Eucharistic ministers and marriage preparation counselors. They attended mass regularly until he was unable. He was a living example of what it means to be a faithful Christian. Vicente was a very generous and selfless man, always putting the needs of others before his. He was willing to provide guidance to anyone who needed it. Through the sharing of his experiences, he unknowingly provided sound advice to many. Two of his favorite quotes were: "Pa cuando t vas, yo ya vengo" "Como te veo, me vi. Como me ves, te vers" Vicente was preceded in death by his son, Vincent Jr., his daughter, Juanita Granados, his siblings, Mela Lopez, Guadalupe, Idelfonso, Juan, Federico Arredondo, Jesus Arredondo, Emilio Arredondo, and Raquel Arredondo; his parents, and grandparents.
