Obituary

Victor Lee Hiatt, 61, passed away at his home in Boise, ID on November 10th, 2013. Vic was born on August 2nd, 1952 in Lewistown, MT to Herman and Fern. He spent most of his childhood in Fort Benton, MT; where he was raised with his sister and brothers by their stepfather, Leon Sherburn. On July 27th, 1973, he married the love of his life, Nina Scribner, and they raised three beautiful children together; two daughters, Vikki and Amy, and a son, Tony. The family spent most of their lives in Montana before Vic and Nina relocated to Boise, ID in 2004 to be closer to their daughters and new grandson. Vic worked a variety of jobs in the span of his life and was a jack of all trades. As a young man he worked a variety of jobs on local farms in the Fort Benton area. He spent 11 years with Orkin Pest Control before moving on to selling farm equipment in Great Falls and Fort Benton. He sold and delivered propane fuel for Farmers Union until he retired for medical reasons. Retirement gave Vic time for his lifelong passion, Cars. An avid racecar fan, he befriended several local race teams and took over their mechanic and pit crew duties. He also started rebuilding a 73 Dodge Charger as a side project. Many a day was spent in the garage, rain or shine, tinkering on his hotrod and watching NASCAR. Later he discovered a love of repairing and refinishing antique wood furniture, a hobby he loved to share with his grandson in their "man cave". No end table in the house was safe from their loving attention. Vic is survived by his wife, Nina; daughters, Vikki Cain and Amy (Dennis) West; daughters of his heart, Jenny Graves, Nicole (Ben) Jetland, and Dani Montgomery; grandsons Gavin Cain, Jared Graves, Max DeNully, and Jacen Jetland; granddaughter Emily Jetland; mother, Fern Martin; brother Marc (Brenda) Sherburn; sister-in-law, Lynore Hiatt; and his faithful canine and partner-in-crime, Racer, as well as uncountable but well-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Hiatt; father, Herman Hiatt; stepfather, Leon Sherburn; brother, Glenn Hiatt; sister, Lucinda Hiatt; stepbrother, Richard Sherburn; and nephew, Del Hiatt. Vics favorite times with family were at barbeques and the family will hold a memorial barbeque in the spring/summer of 2014 for family and friends. Cremation was handled by Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
