Obituary

Virgil Wayne Schwisow, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 13th 2015. A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate his life will be celebrated at 2 PM on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th. Ave. So. 442-8171.Burial will follow at the Lower Fairview Cemetery. Following the committal service there will be a time to have refreshments at Hope Lutheran Church, 331 No. Linder Rd., Eagle, ID 83616. There will be a visitation on Thursday evening, July 16, 2015 at the Nampa Funeral Home from 7 8 PM. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com. Virgil was born June 26th, 1927 in Tobias, Nebraska. He was the second of seven children born to Henry and Ida Schwisow, and the family lived in the Tobias, and later the farmland of the Daykin area as Virgil grew up. Virgil married his sweetheart, Joan Elizabeth Roesler in 1952. They moved to Nampa, Idaho when their firstborn, Wesley, was two years old. Virgil went to work as a carpenter/ handyman in the beautiful Nampa valley where Doyle Lynn, and Debra Joan, were born. Virgil was a farmer and dairyman for the next 17 years. Then in 1974 he went to work for Shaeffer Oil selling lubricants. During retirement, Virgil worked at the job that was most suited for his personality and love of people. He became a greeter at Walmart, where he worked for five years. He enjoyed talking to people and putting a smile on their faces. Children flocked to him and loved him. Virgil will be remembered by many as the friendly little man who brightened their day. Virgil grew up in the Lutheran church and was a faithful and devoted servant of the Lord Jesus. Among his many pastimes, Virgil was the groundskeeper at Lower Fairview cemetery. He took pride and joy in making sure the cemetery appeared serene and well kept when loved ones visited. Virgil is survived byhis wife of 63 years, Joan Schwisow. Children and spouses, Wesley and Pam Schwisow of Beaverton, OR. Doyle and Susan Schwisow, Twin Falls ID, and Debra and Chuck Hagedorn of Renton WA. He has 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Virgil will be loved and missed by all who knew him, but his family takes great comfort in knowing he is safe and joyful in the presence of His Lord Jesus. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or flowers may be sent.
