Virginia 'Ginny' Cowley Obituary Virginia (Ginny) Cowley went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 23, 2024. She was born on September 15, 1931, in Eugene, Oregon. She is the second child of Roy Poplin and Armida (Tiny) Fiske-Poplin. Ginny attended Northwest Nazarene College, where she majored in music and music theory. She also participated in all sorts of student activities. After graduating from college, Ginny moved to Walla Walla, Washington where she accepted a position on the staff of the Nazarene church. She then went to work at the Nazarene headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. It was there that she met her future husband, Don Cowley, who was in seminary at the time. They married on August 1, 1959. They had 2 children, Scott (Linda) Cowley of West Valley, Utah and Sheri Cowley of Nampa, Idaho. Ginny loved being a pastors wife and was a vital part of their ministry. She taught Sunday School, ran Vacation Bible School, and played the piano. Ginny was an accomplished musician. She accompanied Jim Bohi, who was a preeminent gospel singer and evangelist in the Nazarene church. She played for him all over the West Coast, and in Barbados for a general assembly there. One of her favorite experiences was accompanying Tom Netherton from the Lawrence Welk Show. Ginny also wrote several songs that were published by the Nazarene general church. Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Don, her parents, Roy and Armida, and her brother, Duane. She is survived by her children, Scott (Linda), and Sheri. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brittany and Cian, and one great grandchild, Ryder. Her memorial service will be held on Monday, June 10th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Nampa 1st Nazarene Church.
