Virginia Ellen Sauer, 93, died quietly February 13, 2015 at a local hospital. Virginia was born December 24, 1921 in rural Hardin County, Iowa to Lewis and Lela (Huffman) Voigt. She was an only child until her beloved brother, Carroll, was born nine years later. They were raised on a farm near Iowa Falls, Iowa where Virginia attended school and graduated college in 1942. She went on to get her teaching degree and later taught elementary school in Iowa, Oregon, and Idaho. On January 1, 1960 she married Ray Sauer in Nyssa, Oregon. In 1970 they moved to Cimarron, Kansas, returning to Idaho in 1989 where they retired. They were active in the Lakeview Church of the Nazarene and were patrons of Nampa Christian Schools. Ray died in 1994, but Virginia filled her days with her passion of reading, playing scrabble, and solving crossword puzzles. Virginia is survived by her brother, Carroll, and step-sons, Don and Paul Sauer and their families. A viewing will be held a half hour prior to the 10 a.m. service on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Interment will follow at Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com The family suggest memorials to Nampa Christian Schools in lieu of sending flowers.
