Virginia Mae Thompson

Virginia Mae Volk was born February 17, 1937, in Arnold, Nebraska, to Rev Harold and Mary Volk. She was born in the parsonage of Rev Leonard and Buela Oliver, her aunt and uncle.

In 1947, the family moved to Nampa, Idaho so the children could attend the grammar school and college high school that was a part of Northwest Nazarene College. During her time in high school she met and married Ernie Thompson. They moved to Boise in 1955. They had two sons Ernest Roe and Robert, and a daughter Maaike. Ginny attended Boise State College where she earned a BA and MA in elementary education. Ginny taught in the Boise School District for 29 years before retiring.

In 1964, Ginny surrendered her will to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In him, her life found purpose, peace and contentment. She loved being a wife and a mom above all else. She was privileged to author 6 books and have the opportunity to frequently do motivational speaking. She and her husband, Ernie were able to go to over 200 churches from Florida to Hawaii sharing Jesus on Lay Witness Missions. She lived her life believing she was the richest lady in town.

Ginny is preceded in death by her parents Rev Harold and Mary Volk, a brother Duane Volk, and a son Roe Thompson.

She is survived by her husband Ernie, son Robert, daughter Maaike and sister Naomi Hagood.

She was truly a woman of faith and a token of God’s grace.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm at Nampa Funeral Home, 415 12th Ave S., Nampa. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 2:00 pm, at Tree City Church, 3852 N Eagle Rd, Boise.  Burial will be at Meridian Cemetery.
