IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vonda
Downs
February 14, 1936 – October 21, 2025
We would like to let you know that our mom, Vonda Downs left her earthy home for her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving husband, Bill Downs and her four children Ronda, Betty, Larry and Jackie.
Our mom was born in Stickney, South Dakota on none-other than Valentines Day, Feb 14, 1936. She was created in the image of God with a plan for her 89 years of life! She lived her life to honor and serve Him. Mom's parents were William and Gertrude Tegethoff. She was the middle of five children- Dennis, Eileen, Vonda, Rodney and VaNeta. Her parents, brother Dennis, and sister Eileen preceded her in death.
Mom was raised in the Meridian area, attended and graduated from Meridian High School in 1954. She worked for the City County Health Department upon graduation and then met the love of her life, Billy Downs. After a fun-filled dating relationship the two were married on Dad's 18th birthday, November 16, 1956. Mom and Dad stayed in the Treasure Valley to live, work, serve and to raise their family. They were owners of Bill Downs Auction Service for over 22 years. Together they enjoyed life to the fullest. Mom loved being a homemaker, working in her yard, and sharing her gift of hospitality to so many.
Mom loved Jesus, serving Him in all areas of her life. She and Dad used their gifts to serve the Nampa First Church of the Nazarene family in many, many capacities for nearly 50 years.
She leaves behind a big void in her family's world and in their hearts. We love you, Mom and will all miss you! Our future plans are to care for Dad, love our families as you so beautifully taught us and to see you again! There is so much more but this is enough for now…
