Wanda Sharpton Obituary Wanda Ruth (Penland) Sharpton, 84, of Nampa, passed away on March 16, 2024. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM in the Atrium at College Church of the Nazarene, 504 E. Dewey Ave. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. where an online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com Wanda was born October 7, 1939 in Alix, Arkansas. Wanda lived life to the fullest. She took Francis out of his comfort zone many times. Getting married in her senior year of high school in Altus Arkansas, they moved to Conway, where their only surviving son, Jeffrey Andrew, was born. Wanda birthed another son 2 years later, David Allen, but he died the next day from medical complications. From Conway, they moved to Norman Oklahoma for Francis to earn his doctorate degree in Physics. After 2 years in Norman, they moved to Kankakee Illinois, and endured the frigid winters for 2 years while working at Olivet Nazarene College. In 1970 they moved west to Nampa Idaho. Wanda was a secretary for an insurance company for 2 years before taking on the job of Administrative Assistant for the President of Mercy Medical Center. She eventually became HR Director while Francis taught Physics & Engineering at Northwest Nazarene College. She retired in 2002 and they began traveling the world and cycling long distances in Idaho and Washington. Her craziest feat was skydiving on her 75th birthday. Many friends joined the celebration to watch her fall from the sky! At the beginning stages of the deadly disease that took her life, Jeff took Francis and Wanda on a two-month road trip to visit many relatives across the southern US. All that knew her will have wonderful memories of her. She hosted many dinners and desserts over the years that left happy memories for all that attended. We rejoice as she enters Heavens gate and reunites with those that went before! Wanda is survived by her husband of 66 years, Francis Sharpton, her son of 63 years, Jeffrey Sharpton, her 2 granddaughters, Tara Newman and Launa Mikesell, and 5 great grandchildren.
