Wayne Zundel Obituary Wayne Lewis Zundel, 84, of Pine, Idaho, a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away on May 21, 2024. Wayne was born to Dwight Hall Zundel and Vilet Elizabeth Zundel in Pocatello, Idaho on January 13, 1940. As a youth he was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wayne attended Pocatello Senior High School and was active in FFA. After graduating May 28, 1959, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August of 1959. He served aboard the aircraft carrier, The USS Oriskany, and was honorably discharged in July of 1963. In August of 1967 Wayne was hired by the Union Pacific Corporation as a Conductor. He worked for many years on the railroad running routes to many locations in Idaho and Oregon. On September 17, 1990, he married Shirley Bohacek. They lived in Chubbuck, Idaho until retiring to Pine, Idaho in 2001. Wayne enjoyed adventure, gardening, rural-life, animals, and loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Wayne is preceded in death by his wife Shirley Zundel, his parents Dwight and Vilet Zundel, four brothers: Dwight, Voyd, Earl and Reed Zundel. Wayne is survived by his sister Elaine Nelson, a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Stephen Housh, three grandchildren, Kristopher and Tessa Housh, Amanda Housh as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 3, 2024, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise.
