Obituary

Werner Fien Obituary Werner Fien Werner was born on April 25, 1937, to Ernst and Anna Fien in Triberg, Germany. He was raised in his hometown of Schwennigen until he was 12. Like so many of his friends, he was a young child during the war years. He remembers how the family would go to the farmers and trade shoes for food. Many days and nights he heard sirens and would go to a bunker or into the forest for safety. During his time his mother and family moved to a farm town. He started in the city with his dad. He lost contact with his mother. At age 12, he ran away to find his mother. He set out walking to find his mother, for 2 days and nights he slept in barns and haystacks and ate potatoes from the fields. He never realized that his mother and the family had gone back to the city to work in factories. When he arrived at the farm, a family took him in where he lived and worked until he was 14. He left and went to the city for work. He was hired at a watch factory, he worked there until he was 20. His dad invited him to visit California, in 1957. He found work and bought a 56 Chevy. His dad was our neighbor and thats when we met. We started dating when I was 16 and married when I was 19 and he was 26. We both worked and raised 3 kids. He loved camping, his vintage BMW, soccer, and the beach. He played on a German soccer team into his 60s. In 2006, we arrived in Nampa, he loved living here. In 2007, our son moved here and together he helped coach our grandkids' soccer teams. We joined a German club and formed lasting friendships. Through the years, we have seen our grandkids grow up and love Jesus. During these last days, he grew weaker each day. Our pastor came and they prayed and he asked Jesus into his heart. A few days later, he went home, to be with Jesus. He leaves behind his wife, Emma, Son Helmut, Daughter in Law, Debbie, Grandchildren, Bella and Erik of Idaho, Daughter, Lorelei (Coeur d'Alene), Grandchildren, Justin Taylor of California and Hannah Fien of Idaho.
