Wilburn Leon Talley, 80, of Nampa, passed away on December 24, 2016 at a care facility in Nampa. A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 10 AM at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. 442-8171 with military honors by personnel from the Idaho Army National Guard. Burial will be at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 at 10 AM. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com.
Wilburn was born on September 2, 1936 in Carter County, Oklahoma, the son of Omer and Louise Talley. He was their only living child. His father was killed in an accident when Wilburn was 16. He always looked forward to seeing him again. He joined the US Army in 1955 serving as a military police and was honorably discharged in 1958. He met his wife, Goldie McGill while at Fort Sheridan, Illinois and they were married for 59 years. He was saved in a small Baptist church in Oklahoma at the age of 13. He lived all of his adult life serving and praising his Lord and Savior. He was injured in an industrial accident at the age of 44 and lived the rest of his life in pain.but always with a smile and an uplifting attitude. He drove school bus for the Vallivue School District for 18 years and always enjoyed the children he had on his bus. His life is an example of a faithful and true man and he will be sorely missed by many people.
Wilburn is survived by his wife, Goldie Talley, Nampa; their 7 children, Christopher (Lillian), Meridian, ID; Eric (Marla), Hubert, NC; Andrew (Mary), Pocatello, ID; Rachael Hallgarth (Roy), Henryetta, OK; Chester, Boise, ID; Ross (Mae), Nampa, ID, and Bruce (Audra), Nampa, ID; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
