William 'Bill' Fitzgerald Obituary William "Bill" R Fitzgerald was born on March 22, 1959, to Roesch and Donna Jo Fitzgerald in LaGrande, Oregon. The second of four children, Bill spent his childhood growing up in a neighborhood filled with children playing various games, skiing at Anthony Lakes, summers at Wallowa Lake and Camp Nor Wester on Lopez Island and exploring the outdoors of Eastern Oregon.
Bill graduated from LaGrande High School in 1978 and went on to attend the University of Portland, Boise State University, and graduated from Eastern Oregon State University in 1983, with a BS Degree in Business/Economics. Bill honed his business skills working in the family business at the Sacajawea Annex, but eventually found his way to California and then Washington, before making Nampa his home in 2001 working for the citys Water and Parks Departments respectively.
Bill enjoyed playing basketball and football in high school, golfing at the La Grande Country Club, was a member of BPOE 433 and served as Exalted Ruler in 1988-89. He was humble in his faith and participated in that faith at Our Lady of the Valley, La Grande, St. Aloysius, Spokane, WA, and St. Pauls, Nampa, ID. His friendships, past and present, grew over the years and he was loved and appreciated by a large circle. You couldnt find a bigger NFL fan; as he spent weekends with friends following his favorite team, the Seattle Seahawks, on their quest for the playoffs, and cheering for the Washington State Cougars, Gonzaga Bulldogs, and Boise State Broncos.
One of Bills greatest joys was his family, and he reveled in being surrounded by many be it during the holidays or a summer BBQ. Bill also enjoyed the great outdoors, carrying his love for golfing, hunting, fishing and camping into his later years while exploring Idaho.
Bill is preceded in death by his father and mother, Roesch and DonnaJo Fitzgerald, his brother Tom, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his sister Ann (Brian) Jones, and brother, Paul (Kayann) Fitzgerald and two nieces, Joelle and Claire whom he loved and cherished dearly, along with numerous cousins scattered across the country.
