It was during his junior year that the basketball coach from Nampa High School asked him to come play for Nampa, which he did his senior year, graduating from Nampa High in 1939. Perk married Elsie Mendenhall June 4, 1941. They moved to California for a brief time where he worked at an aircraft plant where he supervised a crew of Rosie the Riveters. They came back to Idaho when he was going into the Navy and they were going to have their first child. They moved to the Seattle Kirkland area while he was in the Navy and then returned to Caldwell after he was discharged. After the service he worked for Sears, and was manager of Service Parts store in Caldwell for many years. He became a real estate broker of his own company after he left Service Parts. He and Elsie purchased land in 1962 which included a fish pond in Caldwell and built it up to become Coffey Grounds Trailer Park and Campground, which they owned and operated till 1970. Elsie then joined Perk in selling Real Estate until his retirement in 1983. At their retirement they moved to New Meadows, Idaho. In 1990 they became Snowbirds and traveled between New Meadows and Mesa, Arizona. In 1999 they moved to Gold Crest Estates in Nampa, and resided there until April of 2009 when Elsie passed away. Perk then resided at Park Place Assisted Living in Nampa. They enjoyed square dancing, camping, rodeos, parades, and Bingo.
