Wyoma Stoddard, 87, of Nampa passed away peacefully Thursday morning, March 8, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was born August 26, 1924 to Pearl and Elmer Taylor in Laramie, Wyoming. She grew up in Kimball, Nebraska, and after graduation she moved to Caldwell, Idaho with her family. She worked at Simplot Foods while waiting for her fianc, Dean Stoddard, to return from WW II. They were married on November 23, 1945.
Wyoma stayed at home to care for their two daughters, Kay Dene and Kathleen, while Dean worked as a meat cutter. There were always warm, freshly baked cookies or cinnamon rolls waiting when the girls got home from school. She was actively involved in all the girls activities. She spent many hours serving as a room mother and a Grey Lady at the schools. For several years, she served as a Girl Scout leader for both daughters.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved hearing about every little thing they did, and her room was filled with their pictures. Her pride knew no bounds.
After her daughters were grown, she worked as a cook for Eastside School. She later worked in food service for the Zion Lutheran School and in childcare at Zion Lutheran Day Care Center. Wyoma was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and always looked forward to Thursdays with her church quilting group. She was very proud of the hundreds of beautiful quilts they made for charity over the years. Wyoma was an excellent seamstress. She could sew anything, including dresses for school each fall and any kind of Barbie outfit needed. She and Dean made many good friends walking and chatting over coffee at the mall every morning and in their Good Sam Gem Sprouts RV Club.
Wyoma is survived by her children, Kay and Fred Romero and Kathleen and Doug Jenkins and her grandchildren, Lora and Glenn Siedlarczyk, Kerry and Rob Shockey, Casey and Andy Hanway, Drew Jenkins, Renetta Hill, Dan Romero, Jacob and Kerrie Romero and Felix Romero. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Logan Shockey, Savanah Shockey, Brooklynn Hanway, Bryson Hanway, Breanna Hanway, Lucas Siedlarczyk, Derrick McCormick, Lance McCormick, and Jesse Hill, her sister-in-law Edna Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, Dean Stoddard, and many beloved family members preceded her in death.
The family would like to give special thanks to Denise Hall and the staff of Streamside Assisted Living, Tosha Johnson at St. Alphonsus Cardiology, Dr. Davidson of the Boise Kidney Institute, Kayla and Ellie at Hearts for Hospice and the ICU staff at St. Alphonsus of Nampa.
