Alberto Pinedo Obituary

Alberto Antonio Pinedo, age 87, passed away peacefully on Friday May 11, 2018 in his home with his beloved wife Elisa, daughter Annette and son Alberto Jr. Alberto "Al" was born on April 23rd, 1931 to Juan and Inez Pinedo in Reedley, California. At a very young age Al began working on a farm after school to help support his family. In 1951, at the age of 17 Al enlisted in the Army to serve our country during the Korean War. During his enlistment, Al achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, was wounded in battle and awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Medal.  While stationed at Fort MacArthur in 1953, he met and married Elisa Ramirez on November 8th, 1953 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Reedley, California where they began their marriage, which lasted 64 years. Al was honorably discharged in 1954. Al began his love of farming while working to help support his family. It was his lifelong dream to have a farm of his own. While working as a farmer in California, Al and Elisa soon expected their first child Elizabeth. Shortly after her birth Al started working at Douglas Air Craft and Rocket Dyne. While employed there they welcomed their daughter Annette and son Alberto Jr. In 1967, Al moved his family to The Dalles, Oregon to pursue his dream of owning his own farm. He and Elisa purchased a cherry orchard in The Dalles and he became a successful cherry orchardist. He and Elisa worked tirelessly to achieve the dream he had since he was a young man. This is where they chose to raise their family and became well regarded members of the community. They attended St. Peters Catholic Church where Al became a member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1995 after Al and Elisa's children were raised they retired from farming and moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Al and Elisa then moved to Gilbert, Arizona before finally settling in Nampa, Idaho in 2006. They joined St. Paul's Catholic Church and Al joined the Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree Knight. Both Al and Elisa settled into St. Paul's and made it their new church home. They easily made many friends within the parish and loved everyone they met. Besides his love for farming, Al enjoyed dancing, gardening and traveling. Al's greatest love was his faithful wife of 64 years, Elisa and his family. Al is preceded in death by his father and mother (Juan and Inez Pinedo), brother Eugene Pinedo, and his sister Chole Rios. He is survived by his wife Elisa, daughter Elizabeth (Rick) Smith; Annette (Robert) Thomas; son Alberto Jr. (Teresa) Pinedo; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Al will be missed by all that knew him for his generous heart and welcoming smile. Al and the Pinedo family would especially like to thank St. Lukes Hospice for all the wonderful care and compassion they gave Al and the Pinedo family. They are truly angels from heaven.
