Carolyn Sue Bartlett was born the second child in a family of eight children, to Edgar Earl Bartlett and Grace Louise Pitman Bartlett in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, on May 25, 1943. She passed from this life into the arms of her Heavenly Father at 1:47 am on December 27, 2021, at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her dad, mom, a close brother, Charles Bartlett who was killed in a car accident at the age of 26, and Charles’ widow, Viola Bartlett Cousino. She is survived by 6 siblings, Bill (Barb) Bartlett of Midland, MI, Dot (Wilford) Miller of Detroit, MI, Bob (Bonnie) Bartlett of Battle Creek, MI, Janice Bartlett of Caldwell, ID, Nancy (Mark) Sawmiller of Caldwell, ID, and Mark, Sr.(Susan) Bartlett of Anaconda, MT. She has many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by an aunt, Marilyn Bartlett of Milan, TN and an uncle, Bob (Marcia Pies) Pitman of San Diego.
When Carolyn was still in high school, she started taking care of older people in their homes, including Sis. Babbs, Mrs. Ely (a relative). Carolyn loved older people and was loved by them and their families.
Carolyn graduated from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI with a bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting in 1972. She was working on her master’s degree when she had a heart attack at 30 yrs old. After recovery, she began staying in with elderly people as a caregiver and continued this until her mother passed away 15 years ago. Carolyn moved to Idaho to be with Nancy and Janice. She became a volunteer in a charter school in Caldwell helping children with their math.
Carolyn loved animals. When she was young, she had a tame rabbit named Happy, a pig named Goofy who got loose in the cornfield and came back months later. Mrs. Hovey, who Carolyn took care of in Mount Pleasant had a cat named Fluffy who Carolyn just loved. Carolyn had cats in Idaho, 2 named Cupcake and Muffin, that she brought with her on the plane from Michigan. She took in a stray cat named Blackie who was with her for a long time. Most recently, she got a kitten and named him Boots. She loved Boots, and would be happy to know he is being well taken care of.
Carolyn loved when her nieces and nephews came to see her. Jessika and their 3 children, Ashlyn, Jordan and Mark, III came over for Carolyn’s birthday party, and Carolyn loved holding their newest addition. She was able to go to Mark, Jr. and Jessika’s wedding in Sept and enjoyed being there. Jennifer and Will came to visit her at home, and he brought his cats for her to see, which she enjoyed. Jeremy and Kristin and Trenton came to see her, and she was able to be with Jon and Kassi, Maddi, and Emmi at Thanksgiving at Nancy’s house. She enjoyed seeing Jeff, Jocelyn, Breckyn and Bram too. She loved all of her family and was blessed to be around so many.
Carolyn loved her family including her mom and dad and all her siblings and had a relationship with each one individually.
Carolyn’s life was her family, and she showed that throughout her life. We will miss her greatly, but as she told us many times, “God is good, He’s so good”. She loved when we read scripture to her, prayed with her, and sang hymns to her. She told Janice recently, “I just want to do what God wants me to do, and asked Nancy, “Are you saved?” We know where Carolyn is now, in Heaven with Jesus, her mama and daddy and older brother Charlie and his wife, Viola. We plan to meet her there.
We want to say a big thank you to Carolyn’s caregivers, Julia, Chessie, David, Lindsey, Charles, Mason, and all the staff at Horizon Home Health and Keystone Health. You are appreciated more than you know.
A private service will be held at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. There will be a concluding service in Michigan where Carolyn will be laid to rest. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
