Catherine "Catie" Schelin Halsted was born on January 14, 1992, in Nampa, Idaho, to David and Laura Halsted, She passed away on March 1st, 2024, in Nampa at the age of 32.
Catie was raised in the Nazarene church and spent many years of her youth volunteering in church outreach, mission trips and leading youth groups in her early adulthood. Catie embodied a gentle spirit and a kind heart that touched the lives of all who knew her. She had a strong desire to ensure that everyone she encountered felt loved and valued. She was a comforting presence in the lives of many, a generous and caring friend, a devoted sister, and daughter, but most profoundly a beloved mother to her two cherished boys, Zachary and Mckenzie. Catie nurtured them with unwavering love, providing them with a haven of warmth and support, that will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy on their hearts. From a young age, Catie's creative spark illuminated the world around her, whether she was orchestrating skits or choreographing intricate dance routines for her neighborhood friends and siblings to perform, her imaginative spirit knew no bounds. As she grew her passion for creativity flourished, leading her to explore various forms of artistic expression. From writing and directing short films to editing videos for her youth group adventures and events. Her creativity took on many forms. Catie's love for crocheting, a skill passed down by her grandmother, became a beloved hobby through which she created beautiful, handcrafted works. She found solace in her writing, pouring her boundless creativity into stories, journals and the beginnings of a book, showcasing her beautiful imagination. Catie worked for St. Lukes for over 10 years, holding a few different positions, but always at the heart of patient care. She was a personable and kind presence in the office to both coworkers and the various patients that she would encounter on a regular basis. Most recently Catie was serving at St. Lukes Oncology Department as a Patient Financial Advocate 2. Catie loved her job and her coworkers but most importantly loved serving the patients she encountered and assisted. Beyond her creative pursuits, Catie will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her quick wit and ability to know a little bit about nearly anything, for her infectious laughter, for her compassionate nature, and her innate ability to make everyone feel cherished. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire us all..
She is survived by her beloved sons Zachary and McKenzie, her father David Halsted (Shawna), her mother Laura Wolcott, her children's father David Johnson, her younger siblings Schylar, Hunter, and Forest, and her grandparents Cathy Koteskey, and Doug and Sharon Halsted.
Catie was preceded in death by her grandfather Don Kostesky (Pappap).
