Charlotte Skyles Obituary

 

Charlotte Mae Skyles, of Nampa was received into the arms of her Lord Jesus on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at her home under the care of her loving family, she was 92. Charlotte was born on July 6, 1926 in Wilder, ID. Her parents were J.E. “Jack” Morris and Nellie May (Drake) Morris. She was the middle child of 7 children growing up on the farm in the area West of Bowmont, attended Bennett Community School, Melba schools and graduated from Nampa High School.

Following graduation from high school Charlotte taught at College High at Northwest Nazarene College and attended Albion Normal to receive her teaching Certificate. She taught at Wilson School, Fairfield Schools, Scism and Roosevelt for many years encouraging her students to learn.

Charlotte met Bob, the love of her life, in Fairfield where they went on dates around the mountain cafes, dancing to the music of the day. They married June 26,1949 and were ready to celebrate their 70th Wedding Anniversary this June. Bob and Charlotte raised their children in Nampa where she continued to work towards her teaching degree while working and raising their young children, graduating from Northwest Nazarene College.

Always a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Charlotte was close to each one of her family members, she was engaged in all our lives. She was a member of the Christian Woman’s Club, Bible Studies and enjoyed attending church services, a life-long committed Christian with a never-ending capacity to hear Gospel stories and living the theme, marked in the scriptures in her bible showing how we are to love one another.

One of her greatest loves was to watch her children compete in sports, the Gymnasiums at Nampa Christian Schools, Northwest Nazarene College, resounded with her shouts or saw her pacing in the hallways while basketball games were close. When her daughter Michelle became a basketball coach everywhere her teams played, they knew coach’s Mom would be cheering them on.

Charlotte is survived by her husband Bob and her children: Peggy (David) Ferdinand, Spence (Cris) Skyles, all of Nampa, ID Rod (Ann) Skyles, of Eagle, ID and Michelle Skyles of Nampa, ID; Grandchildren James (Jess) Ferdinand of Marsing, ID, Charity (Mark) Berrier of Meridian, ID, Brooke (Eric) Adamson of Nampa, ID, Austin (Kelly) Skyles Los Angeles, CA,  Joella (Ben) Howard Eagle, ID, Ky (Morgan) Skyles, Jordan Skyles, Jace Skyles all of Boise, Keaton Skyles of Nampa, ID; Great Grandchildren Shelbi Ferdinand, Kristin Tucker, Madison Tucker, Harlee Ferdinand, Colby Ferdinand,  Ava Adamson,  Asher Adamson, Zeke Adamson, Landon and Stella Skyles. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Beverly Morris and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Dick, Bob, and Pat Morris, and by her sisters, Alice Marie Elliott and Della Jane Taylor and Jackie Neeley.

Memories and condolences may be sent to Nampa Funeral Home, 415 12th Avenue South Nampa, ID – 208-442-8171. A memorial service celebrating Charlotte’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, at the Church of the Brethren Nampa, 11030 Orchard Avenue, Nampa. There will be a private interment at the Idaho State Veteran’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Northwest Nazarene University Teacher Scholarship Fund in Charlotte’s name, 623 University Blvd, Nampa, ID 83688 The family would like to thank our friends and supporters Jeanette Kroes and Kevin Stanley for their extra help and care along with the caregivers from Treasure Valley Hospice, especially Crystal and Darla for the tender care and love helping Michelle and our family care for our Mom in the transition to her Heavenly Home.
