Cheryl M. (Manselle) Markus

Cheryl Myrtle (Manselle) Markus, 75, of Nampa, passed away at a Nampa hospital on April 18, 2022. There will be a viewing at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. on Friday evening from 6 – 8 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 3001 12th Av. So. – Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.

Cheryl was born on April 13, 1947 to Faye and Helen Manselle in Hewitt, MN. She was one of 5 children, Marion, Mayden & Edwin Manselle and Linda Wells and Joy Zechman. Cheryl graduated from Nampa High School. She took nurses training at the Caldwell hospital to become and LPN. At church one Sunday morning she met Leroy Markus, this blond headed kid and they fell in love. They were married on Dec. 23, 1966 while Leroy was home on leave from basic training. While Leroy finished his basic training, she completed her studies in nursing and received her LPN Degree. When Leroy was assigned to Ft. Benning, Georgia, she joined him until he went to Viet Nam. Cheryl returned to Nampa and worked at Mercy Hospital and West Valley Hospital. Cheryl had her first child, Julie while Leroy was away in Viet Nam and when he returned home Cheryl was so proud to show their daughter to Leroy. Leroy returned from Viet Nam and then their second child, Christy was born followed by Sandy. Cheryl worked at JC Penney in alterations, tailoring men’s and women’s clothing and then later moved to the stock room.

Cheryl love for God had been the Rock of our family. Her daily devotions and time with the Lord always gave her strength and encouragement. She was a prayer warrior. She read through her Bible in a year many times over.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Leroy; 3 daughters and their husbands, Julie and Scott Hellekson and their two children, Andrew (Taylor) and Shara (Arthur); Christy and Jacob Eggimann and their two children, Ashley (Henry) and Justin (Tivoli); and Sandy and Robert Ricci and their son, Thaidrin and three great grandchildren, Aiden, Madelyn and Asher. All of her family was the love of her life.
