Dion Battles Obituary

Dion Patrick Battles, age 48, of Boise, Idaho was taken away from us far too soon on Friday evening, December 3, 2021. Dion was born on February 16, 1973, to Pat and Virginia Battles.

Dion was raised in Nampa, played football for the Bulldogs, and graduated from Nampa High School in 1991. It was during his high school years that he discovered his love for all things dirt bikes. When his football coach gave him the choice between playing football or riding his dirt bike, we can confidently say that the coach was sorely disappointed by his answer. Dion always knew what he wanted, and this is one of the many things we loved about him.

At the age of 20, he met the love of his life Dawn, while cruising with friends in downtown Boise. It was safe to say that from this point forward, the two were inseparable. They were always going on different adventures and building their lives together. In 1994, they welcomed their son Kameron and just a year later, Lacee made them a family of four. Dion made it his mission to provide a life for his family that radiated stability and love.

From the age of a young boy, Dion aspired to create his art. He poured his heart and soul into his work and all the people that Dion worked with absolutely admired him. There truly wasn’t anything Dion couldn’t do; he was an artistic genius. He made a life for himself and his family with his hands.

In 2010, Dion gave life to Vertical Concrete Creations. Over the last decade, a few of Dion’s brilliant artistic skills can be seen on display at the new exhibits at the Boise Zoo, Corwin Ford Dealership Nampa, Corwin Dealership Bellevue, Nebraska, Corwin Dealership Springfield, Missouri, Veterans Memorial at Nampa High, and the Coach Dolby Headstone at the Pioneer Cemetery on Warm Springs Ave. Dion also shared his talent by instructing art classes on carving concrete and coloring at Deco-Crete in Ohio. These creations are only a mere fraction of what Dion was capable of and what he had accomplished.

Dion touched everybody’s lives and made it a point to make all who he encountered feel special and so important. He never met a stranger. He showed up when it mattered, had your back, gave to those in need, and would always defend and stand up for his loved ones. Dion kept us safe.

Dion is survived by his wife Dawn Battles, his son Kameron Battles and his daughter-in-law Bree, his daughter Lacee Owens and his son-in-law Tanner, his four granddaughters Everlei, Brynlee, Haizlee and Echo, his Mother Virginia Vaught and step-father Kim, a special father figure John Rowland and Father Pat Battles, his sisters Jolynn Fugate (Jacob, Tyler and Sean), and Shawna Johnson (Scott, Bryce and baby), his brother Cory Rowland (Anna, Trevin and Haydon), his father in law, Ed Kalousek, his bonus son Toribio Gallues (Rylee and Jayce), in addition to numerous, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and business partners.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents and his brothers JD Battles and Jay Doughty.
