Donna Marie (Shaw) Thorne

Donna Marie Thorne, 84, of Meridian, passed away on November 2, 2023 in Boise. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Valley Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, 150 W. Maestra St. in Meridian. Burial will follow at the Meridian Cemetery. There will be a viewing and visitation at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023 from 5 – 7 PM.

Donna was born on March 6, 1939 in Hillsdale, Michigan, the daughter of Daisy Marie (Emrich) and Charles Elmer Shaw. She grew up on a farm until she was 9 years old and the family moved to Nampa. In 1957 she married Claudice “Shorty” N. Bassett and he preceded her in death in 1996. Donna married Bob Thorne on Sept. 9, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV and they made their home in Meridian. Donna was a member of the Valley Shepherd Church of the Nazarene.

Donna is survived by her husband, Bob Thorne; her three children, Daniel and Berna Bassett; Thomas Bassett and Sandra and Ken Darby; 2 step children, Tori and Julie Thorne and Tamra Roth; her sister, Sharon J. Shaw; 21 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 2 half brothers.
