Doris Jean (Romph) Thurman

Doris Jean Thurman of Nampa, ID, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 at age 92. Doris was born to Wayne and Grace Romph in her grandparents’ house in Ontario OR on March 24, 1930.  She was raised in Nampa, Idaho, attending schools in the local school district and graduating from Nampa High School in 1948.  

Also in 1948, Doris met Fred Thurman of Meridian, Idaho at a local hotspot for teens in downtown Boise.  After a short engagement they were married in 1949 in Winnemucca, Nevada.

Her first 2 children, Jackie and Jeanie, were born while living in Cascade, Idaho.  Jackie was born in 1954 and Jeanie in 1956.  After moving back to Nampa, they continued growing their family when Jim was born in 1960 and Jerry in 1961.  

Doris enjoyed raising her four kids, her bridge group, the Beta Signa Phi Sorority, socializing with their friends at the local Elks club, and antiquing with Fred for many years.  In later years, she enjoyed spending time with her family at their cabin in Cascade, Idaho.  Doris and Fred continued antiquing together until his passing in August of 2003.

Doris is proceeded in death by her parents, Wayne and Grace, her brother Dean, and her husband Fred.  She is survived by her children, Jackie (Steve), Jeanie (Kurt), Jim (Esmerelda), Jerry (Darla), 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Grace Assisted Living in Nampa and Caldwell for the great care Doris received over the last seven years.   

Graveside services will be held at the Meridian Cemetery on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 11:00 am
