Emory Eshelman Obituary

Emory Ernest Eshelman was born in Nampa, Idaho, on July 11, 1936, to Ellis Eshelman and Genevieve Lembke Eshelman. He joined two brothers and would later have another brother and sister. Emory graduated from Kuna High School and then the BJC Auto Body Repair Program. He also went to the Auto and Diesel School in Nashville, TN. But in his heart of hearts, Emory was a farmer. Even when he was working in town in the auto body business during the day, in his spare time (evenings, week-ends, holidays) Emory would be found in the fields of our farm in Melba. Emory married Arlene Keiter in 1957 and two children, Julie Ann and Todd Vernon, were born to that union. During that time they moved to California. In 1967 Emory returned to Idaho and farmed with his brothers Carl and Charles. He also worked in several different auto body shops in the Boise Valley. The one he enjoyed most was the shop he retired from, Bass Auto Body. Emory enjoyed dropping by in retirement to visit Bob and the rest of the staff. In 1969 Emory met Barbara Downum Gross on a blind date and it was as if they were meant to be together. They were married in June of that year and this past June celebrated their 50 th Wedding Anniversary. In gaining a wife Emory also added three children; Tamra Lee, Sheryle Lynn and Glenn Walker.  Sarah Anne was then born which completed his family. Emory was a quiet, gentle man and his kids recall the only time they saw him upset was when the cows wouldn’t go where they were supposed to. In his later years, Emory loved traveling with Barbara, acting as campground hosts and enjoying the northwest in their travel trailer.

The family would like to thank Meadow View Rehabilitation for the wonderful care he was given while there as a resident. Also, thank you to the many faithful friends who came to visit him during that time.

Emory was affiliated with the Nazarene church in Kuna for many years and also the Quaker Church in Melba. At the time of his passing he was a member of Bethel Nazarene Church in Nampa.

Emory is survived by wife, Barbara; sons, Todd (Carleen) and Glenn (Natasha) and daughters, Sheryle (Bruce), Julie (Richard), and  Sarah (Dean). He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, daughter Tamra and one son Bruce Eshelman.
