Ethel Mary (Campbell) Tackett

Ethel Mary Campbell Tackett, 94, of Nampa, passed away on January 21, 2021. Ethel was born on November 3, 1926 in a little house on a prairie 3 miles out of a town called Rama, Colorado to her parents, Warren C. and Mary Elnora Baldwin Campbell. She was the youngest of six siblings, brothers Leo, Leland, Warren, and sisters Virginia and Veatrice. Her favorite memories of Colorado were bullfights, a truck, a lot of snow and school. The family moved to Idaho in March of 1935 and settled in Nampa when she was eight years old. She attended school at Lakeview School, Central School, and went halfway through 9th grade in Junior High.

She met Arlen Tackett in the summer of 1942 while swimming at the Lakeview Park Pool. Ethel told the story of swimming in the pool with a girlfriend (Edith Carol Wilson) when Arlen would jump into the water next to them and almost drown them. That is when the magic started. They were married on November 18, 1942 in Caldwell.

Arlen worked hard with the Union Pacific Railroad PFE Shops while Ethel raised the family. Life was sweet. They had good times and hard times. Money was short but their family always got by. Ethel worked at several jobs to support the family. She worked at Harmony Café, The school lunch program, The Rendezvous Market (Paul’s Market), the State School, and then the Cheese factory during the Christmas season.

They retired and spent some time traveling and camping with the Good Sam Club and made several trips to the Oregon Coast with her oldest daughter and son in law, Pat, and Dave.

She is survived by her children, daughter Patricia Dunn, son Dale (Becky Tackett and daughter Virginia (Alan) Lynskey; daughter in law, Joy Tackett; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren and their spouses.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlen Tackett, son Ed Tackett and a son in law, David Dunn.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa.
