Eva Gonzales Obituary

Our beloved mother and grandmother Eva “Lil Grandma” Muri Gonzales was called home by our Heavenly Father on October 2, 2021, while surrounded by family.

Lil Grandma was born on January 16, 1929, in Mercedes, Texas to Louis Muri and Concepcion Cerda. She was an amazing, talented, hardworking, and loving woman. She met the love of her life Steve “Chacho” Gonzales, whom she married on April 17, 1943

Dad and Mom worked in agriculture in various states, Texas, Mississippi, and Illinois before making Idaho their home. Lil Grandma worked at various local businesses. She was also a teacher’s aid at Lakeview Elementary for several years. It was there her loving and caring nature shined through with all the children she helped. Children, who in return, shared their love and maintained a relationship with her even as adults.

Lil Grandma was a foster parent for many years. She instilled in every child including her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, how important education is. She had a profound respect for learning and reminded us “You’re never too old to learn.” Shortly after, Lil Grandma went to work for Hewlett-Packard in 1979 until she retired in 1993.

After her retirement, she and Dad spent time vacationing, taking mini trips to Jackpot, and working in the yard. Mom loved being outside. She enjoyed taking walks, reading and most important, she loved spending time with her family. She always had a way of making what seemed like a major problem in our life wasn’t a bad as we thought by reminding us to be strong in our faith and never give up hope.

It is with heavy hearts that we let go but find comfort knowing that she is reunited with the love of her life.

Eva was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Steve “Chacho” Gonzales, her parents, Louis and Conception, her brothers, Jimmy and Carlos, her son, Roberto and her grandsons, Jose Mendoza, Adam Barela and Daniel Barela.

She is survived by her sister, Santos Flores of Mercedes, Texas, Son Marcelino, daughters Angelica, Rachel and Nina, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren who will miss her immensely.

Lil Grandma, we will love you and live by the advice you have given us. We thank you for your wisdom and for loving us the way you did by making each one of us feel special. Most importantly, thank you for always being there in our time of need and never giving up on us.
