Gloria Cox Obituary

Gloria Cox

Born in Greeley, Colorado May 14, 1942. First 11 years lived on a farm with no indoor bathroom. Had the opportunity to go to a 3-room country school 1 mile from home thru 5th grade. Wonderful memories there. In 1953 we moved to Culver City, California. I was not allowed to take my bicycle which I rode all the time. I did not like it there for several reasons. Finally adjusted when I got to High School. Graduated from Culver High in 1960. Lived in Los Angeles area from 1960 to 1972 when I got wise and moved out of there.

I was married to Doug Nichols for 9 years and divorced in 1978. Worked for Kit, Butler and Associates and EI Rancho Realty. I managed the first property management company (Real Estate Management in Nampa, Idaho) Also managed the cash office at the downtown Boise Bon (Macy's).

Married to Claude (Sonny) Cox for over 25 wonderful years. We did so much together whether working or traveling, vacationing or just enjoying each other. Spending time with family was a favorite pastime.

I was a member of First Christian Church in Nampa, Idaho for over 35 years. Pastor Steve and my church family meant so much to me.

I loved the outdoors and my flowery yard, gardening, canning, traveling and my church. Especially enjoyed time spent with grand kids, great grandkids and I tried always to help others in need. I was so fortunate to have adopted as family, sisters, daughters, and grandkids.

I leave behind a daughter, Julie Cunningham, Cheri and Terry Arehart, 3 grandchildren, Danielle Fulton, Laryssa Mendenhall, Julian Jones, 3 great grandchildren - Dylan, Hailey Baker and Aurora Fulton. Nieces and nephews - Steven Shaner, Bob and Pam Custer, and many cousins. My adopted family who are as special to me as if they were my biological sisters - Tina Clark and Elin Sharpe. Adopted children - Christie Morgan and her 3 boys, Jennifer Lober, Sandra Lang, Brenda Webb, Paul Hackeney, my special granddaughter Rachel Walker, and my 4- legged family member, Raine. Then I know the Lord sent me to Skyridge Apartments in 2020 to have another adopted family to take care of me so willingly and selflessly including Linda Lopez, Pam Harmon, Sherry Buwalda, Jenna Strombaugh, Clark Schueler, Debra McGuire, Mary and LeRoy Byington and Michael FitzGerald who was not only my special friend, personal caregiver but also my sweetheart. I certainly do not want to forget to mention and thank those new- found friends and caregivers from Horizon Hospice and Carina Mora. I cannot forget to thank my doctor of many years, Dr. Buersmeyer for the excellent care I received.

Preceding me in death are my parents Carl and Gladys Cunningham, my husband Sonny Cox, still born sister Dian, grandson Damien Mendenhall and special family members Allee and Wava Reed and Tanya Hackeney.
