Obituary

Gordon Proctor Tiegs passed away peacefully in his home with his wife and daughter by his side April 27, 2023. He was born to Edwin and Elizabeth Tiegs on June 6, 1936, at the Mercy Hospital in Nampa, delivered by his grandfather Dr. George Proctor. His first home was on a farm in Nampa where the Ford Idaho Center is located today. The family moved to south of Nampa in the Bennett community in 1940. He attended Bennett grade school, Central Jr. High, and graduated Nampa High School in 1954. Gordon attended University of Idaho for 2 years and returned to the family farm. Gordon was active in sports, playing football and baseball in High school and baseball in college.
On February 3, 1957, he married the love of his life Patty Webb. Gordon and Patty started their family with the birth of three children Ron, Traci and Kathy. In 1959 they had a house built on a hill overlooking the farm which they still live in. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in February.
Gordon had a love for farming and continued to farm until his retirement in 2006. He farmed many crops including sugar beets, alfalfa seed, dry beans, mint, wheat, and onions. Gordon was a member of the board of directors of the Nyssa Nampa Beet Growers association for 19 years. He was a member of Nampa Countrymen’s Club, and the Idaho Mint Commission. Gordon was an early member of the Upper deer flat fire dept. Gordon was also a school board member for several years at Scism grade school. He was a 4-H leader for the Dry Lake 4-H Club. Gordon was an avid pilot owning his own planes and belonging to a Nampa flying club. He was a single engine pilot who enjoyed flying family and friends on day trips to various places.
Gordon and Patty were avid Boise State Bronco fans and season ticket holders for many years. He attended many of the grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Gordon and Patty traveled to numerous states attending Sugar Beet conventions, ball games, and visiting family. They enjoyed trips to Cancun, Mexico City, Hawaii, and a cruise through the Panama Canal.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Elizabeth Tiegs.
He is survived by his wife Patty; by three children Ron Tiegs, Traci (Joe) Toolis, Kathy (Dan) Wiebold; 7 grandchildren Robert Tiegs and Mandy, Scott (Emi) Hellwege. Kerri (John) Pline, Paula (Erik) Short, Kurt (Molly) Wiebold, Kayla Tiegs and Janelle Wiebold; 14 great grandchildren; a sister Joyce (Dave) Owen; several nieces and nephews; and Daughter in law Valerie Tiegs.
The family would like to thank Keystone Hospice and The Key Home Health for the kind and loving care during this time.

Idaho 83711 , or a favorite charity.
A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
Gordons’ whole life was dedicated to his family and farm.
A viewing will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 from 5:00 to 8 pm at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Cloverdale Memorial Park, Boise, Idaho.
