Greg Jewell
Greg Edward Jewell was born on December 23, 1953, to Bill and Verba Jewell in Jerome, Idaho. He was the 3rd of 5 children and was the only boy. He had a wonderful childhood with many aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. The family enjoyed many camping and fishing trips along with many fun vacations. Greg was an incredible athlete and excelled in baseball, football, basketball, golf and snow skiing. Greg had many jobs over the years, working for Stein Brewery, the Creamery in Jerome Idaho, lawn care, fireplace inserts, swimming pool installations but he was the most passionate about being a whitewater guide on the Salmon River and he loved rafting. He married Sue Reckmeyer in 1981 and they welcomed their son, Tyrell Jewell in 1983. Later he married Sheryl Johnson, and they lived in Colorado for many years. After he retired, he lived in Nampa, Idaho where he enjoyed many activities, especially pool. Seven years ago, he bought a German Shepard named Jake, who was his constant companion
Greg passed away on November 20, 2022, from heart failure. He was preceded in death by his father Bill Jewell and his loving Mother, Verba Jewell (just three weeks ago). He is survived by his sisters Carol (Dave) Straughan, Janis (Mike) Tighe, Karen (Mike) Sorensen, Leslie (Bryan) Tillotson and his son Tyrell Jewell and one grandson, Tell Jewell. A celebration of his life will be next spring along with our mother.
