Hilda "Joan" (Westlake) Ayres

Hilda "Joan" Ayres passed away July 20, 2023, in Twin Falls, ID.  at Syringa Place.  Joan and her husband Floyd had recently relocated from Nampa, ID. Floyd was at her side when she passed away. Many loving family members had been sitting with her during her journey. 

"Joan" was born in Clinton, Nebraska on March 12, 1931, to Harry Fay and Ices Irene Westlake.  The family had 10 children with her being the 4th born.  Despite the hard times of that era Mom always spoke with love for her family. She had many stories and adventures despite the hard times and sometimes sad times.

Joan married Floyd Ayres on Sept. 5.1948 in Custer, South Dakota. In 1960 they moved across the Wyoming border to New Castle where they lived until 1967. Eventually they moved with their 3 children - Joy (Paul) Habben, Ben (Nancy) Ayres, Penney (Dave) Walker to Montana.  In 1990 they moved to Nampa, ID. to enjoy their long and happy retirement. They especially enjoyed their coffee group at Carl’s Jr. and eating lunch at the Nampa Senior Center.

They have 5 grandchildren -Hannah Williams, Chris Habben, Justin Ayres, Lindsay Walker and Lance Walker.  The grandkids have lots of memories of doing "fun stuff"   They also have several great grandchildren, and they were always there to lend a hand with the babies.

Mom was a "talker" - she enjoyed her work as a waitress and golf course manager for many years in West Glacier, Mt. She was especially proud of the hole in one that she made.  Being so friendly, she never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went. Joan and Floyd would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on September 5 of this year.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm Thursday, July 27, 2023, at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
