Holland D. Johnson

The Treasure Valley lost a long-time public educator, Holland Johnson, who passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2023 and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was 81 years old.

Holland was born on July 12, 1941, in Batesville, Arkansas, and was raised in California. Holland met Judy Gearhart while attending church in the 8th grade. They were married on July 28, 1962. They were married for almost 54 years. To their home were added three children. Their first child is Craig (Tracy) Johnson; the second is Randy Johnson; and their third child is Marci (Rob) Kielman. Holland leaves behind six grandchildren; Jordan and Sylvia Chace; Allyson and Simon Johnson; and Christopher and Carolyn Kielman. He also leaves behind one older brother, Harmon Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hale and Margaret Johnson, a brother, Norman, two sisters, Francis Gardner and Carolyn Ann, and his loving wife, Judy.

Holland spent his first 13 years of teaching in California. Then he and his family moved to Idaho, where he spent the next 30 years of his career in the Nampa, Meridian, and Caldwell School Districts as a teacher, counselor, and administrator. Upon retirement, Holland enjoyed volunteering at various ministries. Those included Love Inc., Lifeline Pregnancy Care Center, Celebrate Recovery at both First Church of the Nazarene, and Grace Bible Church. All these ministries brought Holland so much joy to be a part of, especially Celebrate Recovery.

He will always be remembered as a faithful servant, great mentor, friend, papa, and dad. If you saw him out in the community, he would most likely mention one of his children or grandchildren and how proud he was of them.

A special thanks to BlueBird Home Health and Hospice, the many doctors and nurses at Saint Alphonsus and the numerous friends who have shown nothing but love over the past few months.

A Celebration of Life Service to honor and celebrate Holland’s life will be held at Grace Bible Church, 1415 Lone Star Road, in Nampa at 11 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2023.  Arrangements are under the direction of Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel.
