Jeannette Rutledge, 88, of Nampa Idaho, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away August 22, 2023. We miss you and will love you always. At last, you have found peace.
Jeannette was born December 29th, 1934, to Clayton Clancy and Laura (Kreis) Clancy in Payette Idaho. The youngest child of four. She grew up in Nampa and later in the Meridian/Kuna area on the family farm. She graduated from Kuna High School in 1952, where she was a cheerleader and involved in the drama club.
Jeannette had a life-long love of horses and riding. She was crowned Miss Snake River Stampede rodeo queen in 1957. An accomplishment she was very proud of all her life. During this time, she met Norman Rutledge, and they married in 1958. Jeannette became the proud mother of two daughters, Deborah, and Vickie.
Jeannette loved being a mom and was very involved in her children's lives. She enjoyed being an assistant Brownie and Jr. Girl Scout leader, room mother at school, and PTA president. She later got involved with the Mustangers riding club and horse 4-H with daughter Vickie, who shared mom's love of horses. She was the driving force behind Vickie's accomplishments as both Miss Caldwell Nite Rodeo and Miss Rodeo Idaho.
Jeannette loved sewing, decorating her home, and planting her many petunias every spring. She loved Christmas and always made it very special for everyone. A gift that was passed on to daughter Deborah.
Jeannette and Norm enjoyed travel and were excited to travel to Scotland for daughter Deborah's wedding in 1985 and later to Italy with Deborah and her family. They experienced much of the Midwest and East Coast when visiting daughter Vickie in Ohio. She loved becoming a grandmother and later great grandmother.
Jeannette worked at JC Penney as a stockroom clerk for many years and retired from there in 2001.
Jeannette is survived by her husband Norm, brother Russell Clancy, her children, Deborah Shields and Vickie Shields and her grandchildren, Colin Shields, Connor Shields, Claire Shields, and Ava Britt. She was great grandmother to Declan, Adalyn, and Skye.
