Jerry (Gerald) Michael Doty of Nampa, Idaho went to be with the Lord July 15, 2023, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Marshall and Sarah Doty of Nampa, Idaho. Surviving him are his wife of 56 years, Sharon, four children, and nine grandchildren: Tim Doty and his wife Brenda of Nampa, together with their children, Stephen, Anna, and Samantha; Jon Doty and his wife Allison of Danville, Kentucky, together with their children, Katherine, Alexander, Anneliese, and Evangelyn; David Doty and his wife Cristie, together with their children, Kira, and Trenton, of Nampa, and Kristina Doty of Portland, Oregon. Jerry will also lovingly be remembered by his 9 first cousins and their families.
Jerry was born in Oakland, California and raised in Nampa. After graduating from Nampa High School, Jerry attended Western Baptist Bible College in San Francisco Bay area, where he met his wife, Sharon, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He served 4 years in the Army as a Radar Specialist, stationed in Malibu, California. Jerry and Sharon returned to Nampa in 1972 where they raised their four children.
Jerry was a hard worker and provided for his family ceaselessly. He worked at Home Dairies as a milkman, as a furniture salesman at Mangums Furniture Store in Meridian, as a principal at a private A.C.E school, and spent the last 23 years of his career as Assistant to the Director at the Boise Rescue Mission. He was involved in many activities that assisted in rehabilitating men with addictions. He retired in 2009, but continued to care for people alongside his wife in their Certified Family Home.
He was an active member of the Crossroads Community Church and was on Pastor Jim's prayer team for 20 plus years. He loved God, his family, and his country. His cheery smile, encouraging words, and thankful spirit will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
