John Alan Messick, 84, of Nampa, passed away on February 14, 2021 at the VA Regional Medical Center in Boise. Alan was born on June 1, 1936 in Salisbury, Maryland to Nelson and Virginia Davis Messick.
Alan was a Husband, Father, Army Veteran that flew airplanes, rode one motorcycle in all 48 states, and sailed boats in 8 provinces. He skied mountains, hunted, fished, camped and visited 49 states and 7 countries. He toured Germany courtesy of Uncle Sam, rode the rapids, shot all the shooting games and golfed the greens. He hiked the Bob Marshall Wilderness, crossed the Atlantic Ocean and drove everything from semis to sports cars. He repaired heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and taught school for 12 years at Boise State University.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn; five daughters, Marilyn (Dave) Landry, Judy (John) Scott, Debbie (Jim) Campbell, Becky (Joe) Reading and Glenda (Jim) Jones; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jerry (Barbara) Messick and Donald (Jean) Messick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
