Josephine Catherine “Josile” Rider of Nampa, Idaho passed away peacefully at her home Monday November 15, 2021, at the age of 89, with her loving family by her side.
Josephine was a woman of faith, who loved the Lord and helping others. She was kind, generous and had a great sense of humor. She was born May 1, 1932, in Royalton, Minnesota to Joseph and Frances Bursch. She was the 8th of 10 children. She was raised on the family farm, until her mother’s passing. Josephine served as a dietician at The Madonna, St. Mary’s Academy in South Bend, Indiana. She got her degree and relocated to New Mexico in 1972 to teach at Church Rock Elementary where she taught second grade and where she met her future husband, Dell. She was an educator for 22 years for the Gallup McKinley County schools with her last few years at Juan De Onate Elementary. After retiring, she moved to Idaho to help with her husband’s restoration projects. She loved gardening and volunteering at her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dell of 37 years, parents Joseph and Frances Bursch, her brother Peter, and her sisters, Sister Mary Leonette, Sister Marie Ida, Sophie, Theresa, Mary, Rita, and great granddaughter Vanessa McManus.
She is survived by her six children son Patrick Rider and daughter Tammy Rider of Nampa, Idaho; son Jeffrey Rider, daughters Shelly Mercer and Pamela Rider of Gooding, Idaho; and daughter Tracy Sockett of San Diego, California. She also leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives.
A Rosary will be held Tuesday November 30, 2021, at 12:00 pm at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
A Mass will be held Tuesday following the Rosary Tuesday November 30, 2021, at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Nampa.
Following Mass, she will be buried at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa
