Kenneth "Ken" Borbe Obituary

Kenneth (Ken) Lee Borbe, 68, of Caldwell, passed away on December 23rd, 2021 in a Boise  hospital. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to all. There will be a celebration of life service for Kenneth on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at 2 PM in the gym at Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, 601 16th Ave. So. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com

Ken was born on January 5th 1953 in Santa Rosa, CA to Fred and Doris Borbe. Growing up the youngest of 4 brothers, he was active in sports at Santa Rosa High School with basketball and track & field where he still holds the relay record today. Ken moved to Nampa, ID in 1971 to play basketball at Northwest Nazarene University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business.

In 1982 he met his wife Doreen on a blind date set up by a college friend. They were married in 1984 in Portland, OR. Ken and Doreen were blessed with 3 children (Amanda, Frank, and Michelle). Throughout his adult life he worked in a variety of professions: real estate agent, restaurant manager, and technology & high voltage sales. In 1991 he moved to Ferndale, WA where he lived for 28 years. In Ferndale he loved to referee high school football, cooking elaborate meals from scratch, attending and preaching at his local Nazarene church and traveling the world with his job for SensorLink Corporation. After retiring in 2018, Ken and Doreen moved back to Canyon County.

Ken made friends wherever he went. He loved finding connections to make the world smaller. He could meet people from a tiny village in Kenya and still somehow find someone in common.

Above all Ken loved his family and the Lord with all his heart. The love he had for his family was evident in everything he did. From planning family vacations to laughing around the kitchen table, these moments were the highlight of his life. Throughout Ken’s life he would frequently look back to moments where God was faithful, these moments were pivotal to how he lived out his faith, reminding him that God would always walk before him.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Because International, 1415 1st St. So., Nampa, ID 83651 or Northwest Nazarene University, 623 So. University Blvd., Nampa, ID 83686.
