Lloyd Lane, as Doris regularly called him, went home to heaven on December 16th with his beloved wife of 64 years by his side.
Born on March 6, 1939, in Bucklin, Missouri, to Lloyd and Flora Posey, Lloyd moved extensively for a little guy — from Missouri to Oklahoma to California and back again — all by age eight. Age eight is also when he met and became friends with Doris Kay Briggs at the Church of the Nazarene in Brookfield, Missouri, where their families both attended. As they grew up many friends suggested that Lloyd ask out Doris, but he always responded that he couldn’t date someone like her until he became a Christian. Fortunately, Lloyd committed to Jesus by the time he was 16 and to Doris soon after. Lloyd and Doris tied the knot on June 21, 1959. Before the wedding Lloyd had started a career in retail at JCPenney, working his way up to assistant manager of the store in Moberly, Missouri. Lloyd and Doris welcomed Theresa Kay on October 30, 1960, and then Jeffrey Lane on October 27, 1963. They moved to Ottumwa, Iowa and Kansas City, Missouri for short stints but made a big move across the country to Emmett, Idaho, in 1968 so Lloyd could take a promotion as manager of Hirsch Value Center, part of Idaho Department Stores. Lloyd worked managing Hirsch Value Center for over 20 years while pursuing his hobbies of farming, fishing, and buying and selling land. Lloyd also loved technology and trading on the stock market, which he did nearly his entire life. He would even take the kids down with him while he watched the ticker and made trades. The internet made this hobby much easier for him — and much less boring for Theresa and Jeff. In 1996, Lloyd started a second career at Micron where he worked until 2003 when he retired, albeit briefly. The work schedule at Micron enabled Lloyd and Doris to start RVing, eventually living full time in their RV and traveling extensively until about 2009. Great grandkids started coming, and the Poseys settled permanently in Nampa where Lloyd traded his RV keys for school bus keys. His third career driving the special needs route for Brown Bus Company lasted for 13 years. Lloyd was beloved by the kids and their parents alike and never missed a day of work. Throughout these years, Lloyd focused on spending time with his kids, grandkids, and growing number of great grandkids — 13 and counting — attending countless graduations, school programs, and sporting events. And fishing every chance he got, including a special Alaskan fishing trip in 2019 with his son Jeff.
Lloyd will be remembered for his fish stories, good humor, and ability to nap anywhere, anytime — but his lasting legacy is his godly example as a devoted follower of Jesus, churchman, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather to his beloved family.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Doris Posey; children, Theresa Lee and Jeff Posey; five grandchildren and 13 grandchildren. Lloyd was preceded in death by grandson Tysen Posey (2007).
