Lucille was born December 15, 1927 on their family farm home near Clinton, Oklahoma to Wilmer Dade Copes and Rilla Robbins Copes, the first of two daughters. A sister, Betty Louise, was born February 12, 1930. Their mother died when she was four years old. Her father remarried in 1934 to Gaye Hill and along with that marriage came a stepbrother, Max. In 1935, the family moved to Nampa.
She graduated from Nampa High School in 1945. The day after graduation, she was employed in the office of H.H. Keim Co. where she made several lifelong friends.
In 1946, Lucille married Raymond H. Baltazor after he returned from the Navy. They built their new home in 1951 and it remained the gathering place for the family.
Her first of two sons, Gerald (Jerry) was born November 7, 1949 and her second son, James (Jim) was born January 13, 1952.
In 1949 she was employed at the office of Nampa Livestock Markets (John Hayes Sales Yard) for the next 26 years for the Saturday Sales. In 1962 she was employed by Potter Insurance Agency, eventually becoming Bob Sample Agency, Jim Palmer-Jim Waters Agency and then Dahlinger Insurance Agency, retiring in 1993.
After retirement she volunteered at the Nampa Civic Center and the Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary. She belonged to several bridge clubs, the Jayceettes and was a Lady Elk. Her Friday Night Girls Out friends Nan, Lilah, Charlene, Doris and Peggy were special to her. Her Church (First Christian-Disciples of Christ) was an important part of her life, being a member since 1939. She held many offices in the Church and Disciples Women.
In 1995, after discovering that retirement was not for her, she went to work for her nephew and his wife, Steve and Maria Dugger, in their Construction Company office and continued until 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother; her husband, Ray, in 1998; her son, Jerry, in 2010; sister, Betty Booth, in 2015; stepbrother, Max Copes; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Evelyn McDannel; and Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Bud and Edith Baltazor.
