Lyle Wilbur Dodson passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 30, 2019 in his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born as Harry Lorin Morton on March 20, 1929 in Seattle, Washington, the son of Harry Levi Morton and Dora Amelia Hagglund. He was soon afterwards adopted by Ben and Lola (Syron) Dodson and grew up in their loving home in the The Dalles, Oregon area.
He served in the Army between 1946 and 1948, spending much of his tour in post-war Italy.
He married Joyce Irene Smith on November 21, 1951 and they had 3 children together, Lola Lanell, Lyle Wade, and Maxine Sue. Lyle also adopted Joyce’s son Michael Ernest.
He served in the Navy between 1957 and 1962, exiting as a Lieutenant.
He married Alice Claire Macfarlane on December 26, 1969 and they had 2 children, Gregory Scott and Rachele Lyn.
He was preceded in death by his sons Michael and Lyle. He leaves behind his wife Claire, his children, grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great grandkids, all of whom miss him dearly.
He will be interred at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise with military honors at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 5, 2019. There will be a viewing at Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel from Noon to 2:00 P.M. prior to leaving for the cemetery.
There will be a memorial for Lyle on what would have been his 90th birthday on March 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the VFW Capital City Post 63 in Boise. All of his friends and family are invited to come celebrate his life. There will be a short service followed by a Potluck.
