They say life is an adventure. For Mailo ‘Robert’ Oswald, his life consisted of numerous adventures. The kind of adventures one can only dream, hope and pray for. Now, he’s embarking on his greatest adventure of all, being with our Heavenly Father.
On Sunday, October 3, 2021, Robert passed away at the age of 88.
His spirit is carried on through his nine children, 25 grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and three surviving siblings in Samoa and New Zealand.
Robert was a man of God, a devout Catholic, with strong morals and convictions. He loved his family, food, playing the lottery, and Netflix. He was independent, stubborn, kind hearted, a generous provider, hard-working, and private. He never asked anyone for anything, but was there if you needed him.
While living in Samoa, Robert owned two convenient stores on the island of Apia. He was committed to the church, raising his children as strong Catholics. Robert would go as far as calling a taxi on the island to take his children to church on Sundays. In 1975, he moved to America. Finding his forever home in Idaho, where he worked for Boise Cascade for 35 years, before retiring from the company.
Loved ones who cleared the path for Robert are his parents Peter and Pauline Oswald, and his sisters June Oswald Schmidt and May Oswald Gebauer.
When we are faced with losing a loved one, our first instinct is to hold on tightly and not let go. We have this belief that the tighter we hold, the more sense of control we’ll have. Often that sense is false. It creates anxiety and let’s fear flourish. By surrendering our fears and trusting in God, we can finally rest and in doing so, allow our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to rest in Heaven.
We love you and miss you, Mailo Robert Oswald. Rest in peace. Until we meet again.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Holy Apostles Catholic Church on Meridian Road. The rosary will be at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel where an online guest book and full obituary is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
“So, with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”
