Margarito “Max” Sosa passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020 of natural causes at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Eastland, Texas in 1937 to Guadalupe and Maria Theresa Sosa. He grew up in Monterrey and other parts of northern Mexico. Margarito moved back to the United States as a young man where he eventually settled in Emmet, Idaho. In Emmett, Margarito met his wife of 56 years, Darlene Sosa, née Tappe. Together they raised four children and lived in many parts of the West, but made their home mostly in Caldwell, Idaho.
Margarito is survived by his children Robert Sosa (Buhl, ID), Julie Barron (White Lake, WI), Gloria Mondragon (Nampa, ID), and Richard Sosa (New Haven, CT), in addition to 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. His is also survived by his sisters Lupe and Lucita, and his children from his first marriage Julio, Margarito, Hector, and Linda.
He was preceded in death by his wife, for whom he was a dedicated caregiver in the last years of his life. He was also preceded by his parents, his brothers Pancho, Juan and Roble, his sister Margarita, and his granddaughter, Rachel Sosa.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel starting at 5:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Nampa at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2020.
